Between the 15th and 20th of October 2017, three members of the Balkan Heritage Foundation team and two affiliates: Ivan Vasilev (CEO), Angela Pencheva (Program Director), Barbara Remedios (Admissions Officer), Mishko Tutkovski (NI Stobi), and Kristen Jones (Queen’s University) attended the 13th Conference of the International Committee for Mosaic Conservation (ICCM) held in Barcelona, Spain. The conference included 50 papers, 65 posters and 14 videos from around the world focused on different aspects of ancient and contemporary mosaic conservation, site preservation and presentation, and different forms of training in mosaic conservation.

At the end of the event, Dr. Angela Pencheva was elected as a member and Secretary of the new ICCM Board, which is going to run the ICCM Foundation for the next three years. In addition, the Board accepted the invitation of the municipality of Plovdiv, Bulgaria to host the next ICCM conference in October of 2020. Mr Roberto Nardi, President of the ICCM, was pleased to announce the news before the conference attendees last week.
