Immersium.eu – a new platform for promotion and dissemination of cultural heritage using new technologies

From May 31 to June 3, the Balkan Heritage team attended a series of workshops in North Macedonia as part of the project “Immersive Storytelling Driven Cooperation for Cultural Heritage Dissemination in Western Balkans.” Together with their partners from five countries from Eastern Europe, they explored the possibilities of cultural institutions to use digital technologies in order to promote cultural heritage and reach a wider audience. The goal is to enhance the visitors’ experience at three selected archaeological sites: Stobi in North Macedonia, Viminacium in Serbia and Emona in Slovenia, through virtual and augmented reality applications. By providing this new, immersive, user-centered experience, the institutions aim to better communicate the stories of the past to the people of the present.

The project partners received a total of 395.183 EUR funding from the Creative Europe program and another 5835 BGN secured by the Balkan Heritage Foundation through the National Fund for Culture in Bulgaria.
