On January 10, 2025, we were deeply honored to gather for an evening dedicated to the memory of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vania Popova on what would have been her 80th birthday. The occasion also marked the official presentation of her final work – “A Guide to the Ancient Mosaics of Serdica“, published by the Balkan Heritage Foundation.

Friends, colleagues, and admirers came together not only to celebrate the release of the book, but to honor the life, passion, and scholarship of a remarkable woman who dedicated herself to the study and preservation of Bulgaria’s cultural heritage. Warm and moving words about her life and work were shared by those who had the privilege to know her personally and professionally.

The evening concluded in a spirit of reflection and togetherness – with a glass of wine and the gentle violin music of Elitsa Alexieva, a fitting tribute to the grace and inspiration that Dr. Popova brought to all around her.

The event was organized with love and respect by her family, the Balkan Heritage Foundation, and the Regional History Museum – Sofia, ensuring that her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
