The exhibition “Bulgaria and the Mosaics” in Tunis
Over the past weekend, on November 17, we concluded the exciting exhibition “Bulgaria and the Mosaics” of the State Cultural Institute under the Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was created and designed by the Balkan Heritage Foundation in partnership with the Museum of Mosaics – Devnya, Rgional Аrcheological Museum – Plovdiv, Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute, the Regional History Museum – Stara Zagora, the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM-BAS), and the Buzludzha Project. Organized by the Ambassade de Bulgarie à Tunis (the Bulgarian Embassy in Tunis) in collaboration with the Tunisian National Heritage Institute, this exhibition showcases Bulgaria’s rich mosaic heritage. It also highlights the contributions of Bulgarian organizations, including the Balkan Heritage Foundation, in preserving mosaic heritage abroad.
Debuting in Africa, the exhibition highlights both Bulgarian and Balkan mosaic treasures. Hosted at the Information Center of the Uthina Archaeological Reserve in Oudna, Tunisia, it attracted a diverse audience.
The opening ceremony on November 4 featured distinguished guests, including H.E. Veselin Dyankov, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Tunisia, Tarek Bakush – Director General of the Tunisian National Heritage Institute, Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova – Director of the State Cultural Institute, Ivan Vasilev – Chairman of the Balkan Heritage Foundation and representatives from various cultural and diplomatic circles.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to H.E. Veselin Dyankov for his exceptional hospitality, allowing his guests from Bulgaria to explore Tunisia’s rich cultural heritage and foster new connections with custodians of history.
Together, we celebrate and promote our cultural heritage!
