Abstract
“A guide to the ancient mosaics of Serdica” by Associate Professor Vania Popova is the first publication that summarizes all available evidence for the partially or fully preserved floor mosaics excavated in the Roman and Late Antique buildings of ancient Serdica, modern Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. This book is the author‘s last monograph, which includes analyses and observations from her research of ancient mosaics from Bulgaria since the 1970s. This monograph is based mainly on previous publications about mosaics discovered during rescue excavations in ancient Serdica in the 20th and 21st centuries. Among the authors whose excavation results are included here are Professor Bogdan Filov, Professor Ventsislav Dinchev, Associate Professor Mario Ivanov, and Dr. Iliana Borisova-Katsarova.
