International training “Creating Management Plans for Conservation of Immovable Heritage”

On September 04, 2023, the Balkan Heritage Foundation, the Municipality of Kazanlak, Bulgaria and the Kazanlak History Museum “Iskra” welcomed ten participants to the international training “Creating Management Plans for Conservation of Immovable Heritage” funded by UNESCO. The participants, who are experts in cultural heritage from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Egypt, Serbia and Tunisia, are undergoing intensive training in developing management plans for cultural heritage sites using as a case study the Royal Necropolis of the Thracian city of Seuthopolis (a serial site consisting of 8 Thracian tombs dating from 5th to 3rd c. BCE on UNESCO’s tentative list). Our Foundation is honored to have as chief instructors renowned heritage experts Dr. Rand Eppich, USA and Dr. John Stewart, UK as well as Dr. Daniela Stoyanova, Sofia University and Dr. Aleta Guadeli, National Institute for Immovable Cultural Heritage, Bulgaria as visiting instructors.
