On November 3, 2022 the Balkan Heritage Foundation received an award for their long-term partnership with the Regional History Museum Blagoevgrad. The Museum director, Mr. Kiril Alexiev presented the award to the BHF co-founder and program director Dr. Angela Pencheva during an official ceremony in Blagoevgrad. The BHF collaborated with the Museum in the following projects/events:

• The archaeological field school “The Birth of Europe – Excavations of the Neolithic Settlement Ilindentsi” – 2011-2018;
• The excavation and research project at the Neolithic site Ilindentsi – Masovets;
• The exhibition of the Neolithic Settlement Ilindentsi and the Balkan Heritage Field School in Strumyani, Bulgaria – 2014;
• The “Preserving the Past, Looking to the Future” exhibitions by the Balkan Heritage Foundation in the towns/cities of Septemvri, Sozopol, Sofia, Varna, as well as Blagoevgrad and Pazarzhik (Bulgaria) – 2019 – present;
• The publication of a monograph dedicated to the Neolithic site at Ilindentsi – Masovets.
