Preservation and Management of Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Sites in the World Heritage and UNESCO Tentative Lists

The Balkan Heritage Foundation conducted practical and theoretical training on the preservation and sustainable management of Bulgaria’s cultural heritage, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List and the Tentative List. The project was funded by a grant from the National Culture Fund of Bulgaria under the “Cultural Heritage 2025” program and is implemented in partnership with the Municipality of Kazanlak.

BHF Launches New Program Heritage Academy

On May 28, 2026, at the two-day forum of the Association of Bulgarian Museums, the “Balkan Heritage” Foundation (BHF) presented its new “Heritage Academy” program, a partnership initiative between the Foundation, the Association of Bulgarian Museums, and the Regional Center for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Southeast Europe under the auspices of UNESCO.

Manuscript Bookbindings of the Eastern Mediterranean: conservation and research

The Balkan Heritage Foundation and the Centre for Slavo-Byzantine Studies “Prof. Ivan Dujčev” in Sofia present "Manuscript Bookbindings of the Eastern Mediterranean: conservation and research" led by Dr. Nikolas Sarris. The seminar will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria in the period February 12 - 17, 2024.

International Training Seminar on the Preparation of Master Conservation Plans

In September 2023, the Kazanlak Municipality will host an international training seminar on preparing master conservation plans. This project was proposed by the Balkan Heritage Foundation and agreed upon at a meeting on February 22nd in the Municipality by the Mayor of Kazanlak, Mrs. Galina Stoyanova, and representatives of BHF. UNESCO has generously agreed to fund the project.

RTI Course for Sofia History Museum Curators

The Balkan Heritage Foundation and Sofia History Museum partnered together to introduce the first in a series of RTI courses for museum curators. The training took place in Sofia in the period Septemver 12 - 16, 2022.
